Have You Ben To 'The Town'?

GRADE: B
Ben Affleck stars in and directs The Town as he plays a professional thief whose love affair with a bank manager takes them down a dangerous and deadly path.  He realizes his life of robbing banks progressively gets him closer to a lifetime in jail and then trouble brews when he tries removing himself from the very circle that's responsible for everything he's known.

The film opens with a suspenseful scene and stays consistently intriguing throughout.

Although, Blake Lively's role seems as though it was added to the screenplay long after it had been finalized.  Her character plays no integral role in the film and her overdone Boston accent gets to be almost as annoying as Affleck's.

Ben's affair with the bank manager isn't nearly realistic enough to justify the risks she takes for him and thus much of the plot between the two starts to seem silly.

Finally, the ending leaves you feeling slightly incomplete and unsatisfied.  Having said all that, if you enjoy suspenseful-bank-robber-type movies, I wouldn't advise against seeing 'The Town'.  Although, I much more enjoyed watching Inside Man, but then again I prefer New York over Boston.
